BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  Vanderbilt women’s basketball player Khamil Pierre earned her fifth SEC Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, as the league announced the 6-2 forward shared the weekly accolade with Alabama’s Essence Cody.

Pierre concluded the regular season by averaging 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of games. Her efforts helped Vanderbilt go 2-0 on the week, as the Commodores head into the 2024 SEC Tournament boasting a 22-8 overall record and a 9-7 mark in SEC play.

It is the fifth time this season that Pierre has been named SEC Freshman of the Week, extending her school record for most SEC Freshman of the Week honors received. Pierre is tied with Arkansas’ Taliah Scott for the most SEC freshman weekly honors collected by a player this season. It is also the third time over the last four weeks that Pierre has been named SEC Freshman of the Week.

The 6-2 forward opened the week by scoring 10 points and pulling down six rebounds in 23 minutes of action at Missouri to help the Dores collect a 68-61 win. It was the 11th time this season that the forward has scored 10 or more points and pulled down five or more rebounds in a game. The victory at Missouri helped Vanderbilt set the program record for most SEC road wins in a season with six.

The Queen Creek, Arizona, native registered six points and five rebounds in a 72-55 win over Georgia in the 2023-24 regular season finale. Pierre’s five caroms against the Lady Bulldogs mark the 18th game she has pulled down five or more rebounds, while it was her eighth-straight game pulling down at least five boards.
