Only the beginning

Sept. 21, 2012

VUCommodores.com provides a behind-the-scenes look at a Vanderbilt women’s basketball conditioning session at Memorial.

The session was held on Thursday with strength and conditioning coach Tasha Weddle, who is tasked with making sure the team is in shape heading into the season, then helping them maintain that playing shape through the year.

Of course, conditioning is only the beginning. The team is currently allowed limited hours of workouts, with the first official practices coming the weekend of October 12-14.

If you didn’t see it, the countdown to the season is on! 55 days from the start of the season, we posted a video of redshirt sophomore Clair Watkins (Charlotte, N.C.) explaining why she wears the jersey number 55. To see her video, click here.

We’ll continue that countdown with the 15 remaining players on the roster. Next up is freshman forward Rayte’a Long (Dayton, Ohio). Long will wear the number 44 this year, and her video will run on Thursday, September 27.

Fans may have also seen our “Behind the Dores” video which ran on September 11. Behind the Dores will become a semi-regular feature on VUCommodores.com as we get into the season. Check back to VUCommodores.com for more info soon!
