Two-year starter and recent Vanderbilt graduate joins Shea Ralph's staff as director of player development

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball head coach Shea Ralph announced on Thursday that recent Commodore women’s basketball graduate Jordyn Oliver has joined the Vandy support staff as director of player development.

Oliver joins the Vanderbilt staff after playing her final two seasons of collegiate basketball for the Dores. The Prosper, Texas, native recently received her master’s degree in leadership and organizational development. Additionally, she earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Duke in 2023. Oliver was one of five Vanderbilt women’s basketball team captains during the 2024-25 season.

“From my first phone call with Jordyn over two years ago, I knew she would elevate our program in every way,” said Ralph. “Her growth and leadership on the court helped our team return to the NCAA tournament, but her energy and passion for success are so special that we simply had to keep her here at Vanderbilt. As an aspiring coach, she will gain valuable experience on our staff in helping our players develop on and off the floor.”

In her role as director of player development, Oliver will support the women’s basketball staff and student-athletes in off-court development, branding and marketing. She will also assist in logistics and operations of on-campus recruiting and serve as a women’s basketball liaison with community partners and within Vanderbilt Athletics, while learning the inner workings of a college basketball operation.

“I am excited and ready to join the women’s basketball staff at Vanderbilt, where I will bring the same energy and effort I brought to the court in my time as a Commodore,” expressed Oliver. “In just two years, Coach Ralph has taught me to be a better person. I am so thankful for the opportunity to get to learn from this staff and continue my growth as I transition away from being a student-athlete.”

On the court, Oliver was a two-year starter for the Commodores, starting in 56 of the 65 games she appeared from 2023-25, including all 33 games this past season. The guard guided Vanderbilt to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, helping the Dores earn their first March Madness bid in a decade during the 2023-24 campaign. Oliver was a part of 45 wins over two seasons at Vanderbilt. In 2024-25, she led the Dores in assists with 118, while her 2.36 assist-to-turnover ratio was 24th-best in all of NCAA Division I.

Oliver played in 146 collegiate games with stops at Baylor (2019-21) and Duke (2021-23). She was an all-academic team selection in the Big 12 (2021), ACC (2023) and SEC (2024).
