NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Tuesday, Vanderbilt women’s basketball graduate student Jane Nwaba was named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Nwaba, who just concluded her lone season at Vanderbilt after transferring in as a graduate student from Pepperdine, played a vital role in helping the Dores make their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The forward started in 31 of the 33 games she played for the Commodores and averaged 4.5 points per game, shooting 46.2 percent from the floor. Nwaba held a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and connected on 38.3 percent of her shots from behind the arc.
The Carson, California, native is majoring in medicine, health and society at Vanderbilt. She graduated from Pepperdine in May of 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Nwaba played four seasons for the Waves, where she was a three-time All-WCC Academic honorable mention selection. Nwaba was a two-time recipient of the WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll Silver Honors and was twice named to the WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll Bronze Honors.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
