Game Notes
– The teams met for the 72nd time. With the win, Tennessee improved to 63-9 all-time in the series and the Lady Vols have won five of six.
– Vanderbilt used its eighth different starting lineup of the season. For the first time, the combination of Rebekah Dahlman, Rachel Bell, Audrey-Ann Caron Goudreau, Heather Bowe and Morgan Batey started.
– Vanderbilt fell to 8-6 on the season and 0-2 in SEC play. Tennessee improved to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the SEC.
– Attendance was a season-high 7,212 at Memorial Gymnasium.
Team Notes
– The Commodores took their only lead of the night, 3-2, on Rebekah Dahlman’s 3-pointer just 1:40 into the game.
– Vanderbilt twice tied the game, with a 3-pointer by Khaleann Caron-Goudreau and then with a reverse layup by Christa Reed to knot the game at 14 with 5:11 left in the first half. But Cierra Burdick responded moments later with a jumper to spark a 11-3 run to take a 25-17 lead into halftime.
– Cold shooting stymied the ‘Dores all night, especially in the first half where they registered season-lows of 17 points and 26.1 percent shooting.
– Tennessee led by as many as 15 points in the second half.
– Vanderbilt pulled within seven twice in the final minutes  on 3-pointers by Rebekah Dahlman and Christa Reed – and Paris Kea actually cut the lead to 55-49 with a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to go. But Tennessee made seven of eight free throws in the last two minutes to seal the victory.
– Vanderbilt scored a season-low 49 points and its second-fewest points ever against Tennessee. The Lady Vols’ 57 points were the fewest in the series’ history and they shot just 36.2 percent.
Individual Notes
– Freshman Christa Reed scored a team-high 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting. It was just the third time in her career she has scored in double figures and most since scoring a career-high 17 against Connecticut on Nov. 29.
– Freshman Khaleann Caron-Goudreau, playing in her second straight game after starting the season on the bench with an injury, matched a career-high with two 3-pointers and scored 10 points. She has scored in double figures in both games this season. She also came off the bench against Texas A&M last Friday to score 11 points.
