FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Jenni Benningfield scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half and was perfect from the free-throw line to help No. 24 Vanderbilt beat Arkansas 74-69 Thursday night.

She was only 3-for-8 from the floor but went 10-for-10 from the line.

The teams were tied 32-32 at halftime, but Arkansas (13-6, 2-4) scored the first 10 points after the break. Vanderbilt’s scoring drought ended when Carla Thomas was fouled and hit both free throws.

Vanderbilt (16-3, 4-2) then went on a 16-8 run to force a 50-50 tie. The game was tied three more times, the last at 69-69 with 1:47 left to play.

Then Arkansas turned the ball over, and Hillary Hagar hit a 23-foot 3-pointer with 24 seconds left. Arkansas’ Shameka Christon fouled out of the game on the ensuing possession and Benningfield hit two free throws to ice the win.

Hagar scored nine of her 14 points in the second half. Thomas scored 12 points and Ashley Earley had 11; both grabbed seven rebounds.

Arkansas was led by Ruby Vaden with 29 points and seven rebounds. Kristin Peoples scored 18 and Christon had 13.
