No. 2 Commodores Set for Conference USA Championships

Vanderbilt bowling will play Tulane Wednesday in the opening round

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt bowling team will begin postseason competition Wednesday when the No. 2 seed Commodores play 11th-seeded Tulane in the first round of the Conference USA Bowling Tournament at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, Louisiana.

THE LAST TIME OUT
• At the Music City Classic, the Vanderbilt bowling team, ranked second in the NTCA Coaches Poll and NCAA RPI, rallied to overcome a 3-1 deficit and beat No. 3 Arkansas State to earn a third-place finish to end the regular season
• Katelyn Abigania collected a third-place finish and her third all-tournament team honor of the season

VETERAN EXPERIENCE IN THE LINEUP
• Seniors Alyssa Ballard and Victoria Varano bring a wealth of high-level bowling experience to the Commodores’ roster, as both student-athletes were members of the 2023 national championship team
• Varano is a three-time All-American and two-time All-Conference USA honoree
• Ballard was a third-team All-America and all-region selection and named the Southland Bowling League Rookie of the Year in 2022-23
• Dannielle Henderson, who transferred to Vandy for the 2025-26 season, was named a second-team All-American in 2024-25, anchoring Jacksonville State in the NCAA championship match, where Gamecocks were national runners-up
• Junior Haley Lindley was an All-America honorable mention in 2023-24 and was named to the NTCA All-Rookie first team her freshman year

FRESHMEN ON FIRE
• Abigania and Avery Domaguin have made an immediate impact for the Commodores this season
• Domaguin was named to the Storm Flyer Classic all-tournament first team and the event’s co-MVP
• Abigania has earned a spot on three all-tournament teams in her debut season
• Abigania swept Conference USA’s January awards, being named both bowler and freshman of the month and earning a spot on the league’s performers of the month team
• Abigania ranks fifth in the NTCA’s Player Composite Performance Index and is ranked top 10 in the country in scoring average, fill frame percentage, first-ball 9+ percentage and first-ball average

• Vanderbilt is holding steady at No. 2 in both the NTCA coaches poll and NCAA Rating Percentage Index
