TAMPA, Fla. — With final examinations completed, the 12th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team returns from a nine-day hiatus Sunday to face South Florida. The game is scheduled to tip at 2 p.m. CT from the St. Pete Times Forum.

The Bulls will be playing at the 19,500-seat home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning for the first time in program history. The Forum will be the site of the 2008 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

Vanderbilt (8-1) has not played since suffering its first loss of the season on Dec. 7 at No. 4 Duke. Senior Carla Thomas leads the Commodores in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. Thomas is currently 14th on Vanderbilt’s all-time scoring list and stands only nine points away from 1,400 career points and 12th on the list.

Senior Dee Davis leads the Southeastern Conference in assists, averaging 6.8 per game. Davis recently became only the second player in school history to pass the 600-assist plateau. The Cincinnati, Ohio native was recently named one of 50 preseason candidates for the Naismith Trophy.

South Florida (8-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) has also been on a nine-day break during final exams. The Bulls boast Naismith candidate Jessica Dickson, who is averaging 19.9 points per game. South Florida opened conference play last week, defeating Villanova on the road, 60-48.

The Commodores will play seven games during winter break before spring semester classes begin on Wed., Jan. 10.
