Vanderbilt Falls to Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team fell to Tennessee, 82-65, Sunday afternoon in Memorial Gymnasium.
 
Chelsie Hall put away a pair of free throws from the charity stripe to make it a one-point game, 57-56, with 6:41 remaining in the game. The Volunteers responded with 10 unanswered points to take a 10-point advantage, 67-57.
 
Tennessee out-scored Vanderbilt, 10-3, over the final 3:39 to set the final score, 79-63.
 
Mariella Fasoula led the Commodores with 16 points and eight boards. Autumn Newby and Hall tallied 11 each.
 
Tennessee forced 12 turnovers and converted them into 18 points.
 
The Volunteers also won the rebound battle, 56-to-31 and took advantage of 20 points off of second chance.
 
Vanderbilt falls to 6-16 (1-8 SEC) while Tennessee improves to 15-7 (4-5 SEC).
 
The Commodores will be back in action on February 10 at Missouri. Tip is slated for 3 p.m.
