Darius Garland has stellar McDonald's Game

Vanderbilt signee Darius Garland dished out a game-high 11 assists for his East All-Star team Wednesday night at the McDonald’s All-American Game in Atlanta. His team fell to the West squad, 131-128, in an exciting, up-and-down contest at Phillips Arena.

Garland, one of the nation’s 24 best high school players invited to the game, started for the East team and had several eye-popping highlights.

Garland ended the night with 11 assists, two points, two rebounds and two steals in 20 minutes of action.

Garland, from nearby Brentwood, Tenn. and signee Simisola Shittu, were the first two Vanderbilt signees to appear in the prestigious all-star game. Shittu did not play because of injury.

Garland and Shittu will also participate in the Jordan Brand Classic April 8 in Brooklyn, N.Y. at the Barclays Center, with Garland heading to USA Basketball’s Nike Hoops Summit on April 13 in Portland, Ore. after the Jordan game.
