NCC Annual Giving Tops $2.5 Million

7/11/2005

Vanderbilt’s National Commodore Club, which generates financial support for the University’s athletic scholarships, surpassed its 2004-05 fiscal year goal by reaching $2.57 million. The total, over $200,000 more than its goal, represents one of the highest totals in the organization’s long history.

“We are overwhelmed at the financial support that our members have shown this past fiscal year”, said Chris Wyrick, Director of Athletic Development at Vanderbilt. “Our job is not only to help our student-athletes while they are here at Vanderbilt through scholarships and incredible facilities; but we also try to guide them beyond the classroom and throughout their lives.

“Many National Commodore Club members are well-connected in the community and business world and have been able to help our student-athletes well past graduation.” Wyrick adds, “They have invested in our student-athletes lives: their character, careers, and ultimately their success in life. Their membership truly does matter to these young people!”

It is the second consecutive year the NCC has reached its goal. Last year NCC giving reached $2.2M. For more information on supporting Vanderbilt student-athletes through the National Commodore Club call 615-322-4114 or visit http://vucommodores.com/ncc
