NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt Athletics has once again posted one of the leading graduation success rates in the nation according to data released by the National Collegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday.
For the 2016-17 report—which includes the four-class average for student-athletes enrolling in 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17—Vanderbilt scored a 97 percent graduation success rate. The GSR indicates the percentage of freshmen as well as student-athletes who transferred into an institution and received athletics aid who graduated within six years.
This marks the eighth consecutive year that Vanderbilt has led all Southeastern Conference schools in the metric, with the Commodores also finishing in the top five among all Power 5 programs.
The Commodores’ men’s and women’s basketball, bowling, men’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, lacrosse, soccer, and men’s and women’s tennis teams each earned 100 percent marks, while all Vandy programs in the report scored at 90 percent or higher. The Commodores also paced the SEC with a 95 percent GSR in football.
The NCAA includes all scholarship athletes in its GSR study. Athletes who transfer in good standing do not count against the school’s GSR. Schools also are allowed to count incoming transfers and early enrollees who subsequently graduate.
