PALM DESERT, Calif. –Vanderbilt women’s golf shot 3-over par at the second round of the Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic. The Commodores sit in fourth place with 18 holes remaining.

“Today was a better day and I’m proud of the fight we showed,” said head coach Greg Allen.

Elizabeth Rudisill, in ninth place individually, holed six birdies on her way to a 2-under-par 69 on Sunday. Angelina Tolentino shot a 1-over 72 to move to 22nd individually. The sophomore added four birdies and an eagle on No. 5, her closing hole on the day. Ava Merrill, currently in 14th place, scored a second-round 73.

“I’m especially proud of AT, Ava and Rudy,” said Allen. “They were a combined 12-over through their first 9-10 holes, but they stayed patient and turned it around.”

Lynn Lim, also tied for 22nd, matched Merrill with a 73 of her own. Tillie Claggett and individual Kathryn Ha both had a 75.

Vanderbilt sits four shots behind second-place UCLA and just two behind Eastern Michigan. USC leads the event at 15-under par.

“Hopefully we continue to figure some things out tomorrow and keep climbing,” said Allen.

Vanderbilt will tee off the final round at 10 a.m. CT with Long Beach State and Northern Arizona. Live scoring for the event can be found on SCOREBOARD.
