NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golfer Ava Merrill was named SEC co-Freshman of the Week following her tied for sixth finish at the FAU Paradise Invitational.
Merrill claimed her top-10 finish with a 2-under-par 214. The freshman fired two rounds under par, including a collegiate-best 4-under 68 in the second round in Boca Raton, Fla. Merrill followed with a 1-under 71 to close the opening tournament of the spring season. The top-10 finish marked the third of the season for Merrill.
The weekly award is the first for Merrill in her collegiate career and the first for a Commodore golfer this season.
