AUGUSTA, Ga. –– After two rounds, Vanderbilt junior Ava Merrill is tied for 14th place at the annual Augusta Women’s National Amateur.
The Georgia native shot a 1-under-par 71 on Thursday, bringing her two-day total to 4-under par. Merrill’s two under-par rounds secured her spot in Saturday’s final round at the famed Augusta National. The cut line for the event was 1-under par.
Merrill holed six birdies on Thursday, including a stretch of notching four in six holes between Nos. 5 and 10.
Freshman Elizabeth Rudisill also competed at the AWNA this week as one of the best amateurs in women’s golf. She missed the cut after carding an 80 in her Thursday round.
On Friday, all participants will get an opportunity to play Augusta National in a practice round. The final round for the ANWA will take place on Saturday.
Ava Merrill will tee off the final round with Yunseo Yang at 8:50 a.m. CT.
