COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Commodores await their final test prior to the SEC Championships as Vanderbilt is set to compete in the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. The men’s race is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT at Watts Cross Country Course.
Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and Texas A&M will all represent the SEC in a race featuring 28 programs. No. 24 Oklahoma State and No. 28 Middle Tennessee are the lone ranked opponents in the competition. However, Vanderbilt is one of 11 programs competing Saturday that enter the race ranked regionally.
Last time out, Nick Lanning led the Commodores for the second-straight week to a 13th place finish in the Louisville Classic. The freshman finished the 8-kilometer race 39th overall among 252 harriers with a time of 24:48.70. The team effort lifted Vanderbilt to a 14th-place ranking in the South Region. The ranking is the men’s first regional ranking in head coach Steve Keith’s tenure.
Caleb Casolaro, Matthew Estopinal, Edward Harpstead, Lanning, Aidan Livingston, Lucas Mowery, Evan Suzman, Harrison Thomas, Caleb Van Geffen and Jason Vincze are all making the trip to compete for the Commodores.
