Springfield, Mo. – Ryan Anderson scored his fifth-game winning goal of the year in the 83rd minute to lead No. 9 Missouri State to a 3-2 win over Vanderbilt in men?s soccer action Saturday night at the Cooper Sports Complex.

The Commodores dropped to 6-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Missouri Valley play, while the Bears improved to 9-1-2 and 2-1 in league.

MSU got on the board early at the 5:13 mark when Ryan Crawford took feeds from Kai Harris and Jacob Harris and brushed a kick over the pulled VU goalkeeper?s head.

Vanderbilt struck back quickly, scoring less than a minute later on Patrick Murray?s goal from 12 yards out in the midfield. Josh Medcalf got the assist on the goal.

Crawford scored his second goal of the contest at the 27:39 point to give the Bears a 2-1 lead that they carried into the half.

Senior John Krause tied the game at the 67:29 mark in the second half, scoring his tenth goal of the year on an assist from Ryan Paugh.

Ryan Anderson scored the game winning goal off a give and go assist from Justin Alford and blasted a shot from 22 yards out that went in with less than seven minutes remaining in the game.

Vanderbilt had most of the scoring opportunities in the contest, finishing with a15-6 shot advantage.

MSU goalkeeper Nathan Platz finished with seven saves, including five in the second half, while VU keeper Kenny Schoeni finished with a save.

The Commodores return to Nashville this week for their final two home games of the regular season. Vanderbilt will take on Western Kentucky on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., before closing out with Drake on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the VU Soccer Complex.
