Men’s Hoops Welcomes New Orleans

Vanderbilt welcomes New Orleans to Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday for an 8 p.m. contest. The game will be televised by Comcast Sports Southeast.

The Commodores are playing the second of three games in a six-day span leading up to the holiday break.

Vanderbilt (6-1) defeated Alabama A&M, 74-58, on Saturday behind Dan Cage’s team-high 18 points. Cage scored all of his points in the second half, including four 3-pointers. Julian Terrell contributed 13 points and six rebounds while Ted Skuchas added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Tuesday with mark the third contest of a four-game road trip for New Orleans (2-6). The Privateers have fallen short at LSU (94-53) and Purdue (68-56) during their current road trip and are schedule to play at Kansas on Dec. 29. The Privateers, who have taken up temporary residence at the University of Texas at Tyler since Hurricane Katrina, will play their first true home game in the Big Easy on Dec. 31 against Tulane.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 2-0. Both meetings have come in the postseason NIT with the Commodores claiming home victories in 1990 (88-65) and 1994 (78-59).
