Men’s Cross Country Team Finishes Season at the NCAA Regional 

Auburn, AL. – The Vanderbilt men’s cross country team placed 18th at the NCAA South Regional held today in Auburn, AL.

Vanderbilt finished with a score of 447 on the 10K course, beating SEC rival Ole Miss (20th, 536).

By finishing in the top two, Georgia (1st, 37), and Florida State (2nd, 64) advanced to the NCAA Championships held on November 24 in Iowa. Georgia junior Simon Ngata took home individual honors, finishing with a time of 30:10.48.

The Commodores were led by senior captain John Cote. Cote finished in 76th place with a time of 32:50.76. Also finishing and scoring for Vanderbilt were junior Mike Gaske (81st, 32:59.09), sophomore Tyler Harlan (99th, 33:38.06), sophomore Eric Walle (102nd, 33:45.35), junior Matt Doll (107th, 33:57.79), junior James Guthrie (114th, 34:21.03), and junior Taylor Hindle (128th, 34:58.57).

This meet wrapped up the 2003 season for the Commodores. Vanderbilt returns the bulk of its team next season and looks to improve upon the successes of this year.
