Men’s Cross Country Competes in Bulldog Stampede 9/20/2003 Men’s Cross Country Competes in Bulldog Stampede NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s cross country team placed seventh at the Bulldog Stampede Invitational held today in Athens, GA. The Commodores finished with an overall score of 194 on the 8K course. Host team, Georgia captured the team title with 35 points, and Georgia junior Simon Ngata won individual honors with a time of 25:44.84. The Commdores were one of four SEC teams in the race today. Vanderbilt was led once again by sophomore Tyler Harlan. Harlan finished in 39th place with a time of 27:48.97. Also scoring for the Commodores were sophomore Eric Walle (27:50.45, 42nd), junior Matt Doll (28:27.27, 55th), junior Taylor Hindle (28:50.78, 62nd), junior Mike Gaske (29:00.86, 65th), freshman Mike Gabrys (29:59.46, 73rd), and sophomore Jake LaManna (31:20.20, 75th). This was the first true SEC contest for the Commodores, who look to improve as the season progresses. Tyler Harlan and Eric Walle have been two of Vanderbilt’s top three finishers in each meet this season.
