NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 11/10 Vanderbilt aims to match the best start in program history when the Commodores welcome LSU to Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The contest is set for a noon tipoff on SEC Network.

TIDE TURNED

  • In the first AP top 15 tilt in Memorial Gymnasium since Jan. 5, 1974, Vanderbilt rebuffed No. 13 Alabama 96-90 on Wednesday night.
  • Tyler Tanner paved the way with a career-high 29 points while adding seven assists and four steals. All five Commodore starters scored in double figures.
  • Duke Miles added 19 in his return to action, snagging four boards and five steals as well.
  • Vanderbilt led for 33:16 of game time and held the Tide to just 37 percent from the floor and 9-of-40 from beyond the arc.
  • The victory was Vandy’s first over Alabama at home since 2018.
  • The win also marked Vandy’s fourth-straight win over a ranked foe dating back to the end of last season.
  • It also marks the Dores’ first 2-0 start in SEC play since 2016-17.

GAME CONTROL

  • Vanderbilt has played 605 minutes of basketball this season in 15 games. The Dores have trailed for just 22:02 of game time.
  • The Dores have gone wire-to-wire on six occasions and trailed for less than a minute in three more games.
  • The win over Alabama marked just the second game this season where the Dores trailed in the second half. Vandy has trailed after halftime for just 9:48 this season.
  • Vandy’s largest deficit of the season? 5 points against Western Kentucky and Memphis.

YEAR OF THE DORES

  • There’s no better place for basketball in 2025-26 than Vanderbilt with both the men’s and women’s teams undefeated thus far in 2025-26.
  • Vanderbilt is the only school in the country with both its men’s and women’s programs unbeaten.
  • Add in football’s historic season and the big three programs are 41-3 this season.

  • Let’s talk: put the sophomore on all the watchlists – All-America, Wooden, Naismith, Bob Cousy. All of it.
  • The guard continues to wow after his career-high 29 points in the win over No. 13 Alabama, where he also added seven assists.
  • Tanner is averaging 17.1 points, 5.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game this season.
  • In the first two SEC contests, Tanner has scored 48 points with 21 assists and four steals.
  • Tanner ranks 12th nationally in steals per game (2nd SEC), 29th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2nd SEC) and 37th in assists per game (4th SEC).
  • The analytics love Tanner as well, with the sophomore ranking sixth in EvanMiya player ratings and seventh in KenPom Player of the Year rankings.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Vanderbilt welcomes LSU to Memorial Gymnasium for the 126th meeting in the series. The Dores lead 66-59.
  • Vandy owns a 39-15 advantage at home in the series and has won three of the past four meetings in Memorial.
