SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – After two early round games at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, the Vanderbilt Commodores will take on the Utah State Aggies in the third round of the South Padre Invitational Friday evening at the South Padre Convention Center. Vanderbilt enters the final two rounds of the SPI with a record of 3-0 after two home SPI victories over Austin Peay and Valparaiso and a 77-70 road win at Toledo. The Commodores defeated Valparaiso, 87-78, on November 20, in their last time out. Vanderbilt led by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a 44-31 advantage at the break, but the Crusaders battled back, and held a three-point lead with 12:30 to go in the second half, 53-50. With Vanderbilt trailing 60-58 at the 10:34 mark in the game, the Commodores scored seven unanswered points over the next two and a half minutes to take a 65-60 lead. Freshman center A.J.
