The brackets for the 2011 TicketCity Legends Classic have been announced, and the Commodores will take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack on November 19 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. Vanderbilt will take on either Texas or Oregon State in the finals/consolation on November 21.
Vanderbilt’s last meeting with the Wolfpack was a memorable one – the Commodores knocked off N.C. State, 75-73, after a furious second-half comeback to advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2004 NCAA Tournament. VU rallied from 11 points down with 3:45 to play in regulation to come away with the victory.
Vanderbilt leads the all-time series with North Carolina State, 2-1. Besides the NCAA Tournament, both teams split a home-and-home series in 1968 (in Raleigh) and 1969 (in Nashville), with each team winning on the other team’s home floor.
