LAST MEETING
Vanderbilt won 59-50 at Vanderbilt on 12/7/06.

COACHES
Kevin Stallings is in his ninth year at Vanderbilt (152-108) and his 15th overall (275-171). Scott Sanderson is in his 9th season with Lipscomb (135-114), and 11th overall as a head coach (219-139).

LIPSCOMB TIDBIT
The Bisons have won their last three games (Samford, Mcneese State and Arkansas Tech), all at home. Atlantic Sun standout Eddie Ard led Lipscomb with 14 points in last year’s loss to the Commodores, but has struggled so far this season (35% FG, 27% 3FG). He came off the bench for the first time this year in Monday’s game with Arkansas Tech. “Sometimes sitting on the bench makes your thought process speed up in a hurry,” said Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson said. “He got his thought process going the right way against Arkansas Tech. He is going to get better. Once he gets going it will be really good for us.”

PLAYER TO WATCH
Freshman forward and Brentwood Academy product Brandon Brown has been the leader for the Bisons this season with 9.1 rebounds per game. His 16 rebounds against Samford Nov. 26 marks a single-game season high in the conference. He’s also recorded two double-doubles on the year. “Brandon has stepped up his level of play,” Sanderson. “He weighs 150 pounds with a brick in his pocket. He is not very big at all. But he gets so many rebounds a game because he goes hard to the basket every single time.”

NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt will take on fellow Nashville school Lipscomb University on Saturday evening at Memorial Gym. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast. Joe Fisher and Tim Thompson will call the game on the ISP/Vanderbilt Radio Network.

The #23/25 Commodores moved to 8-0 and tied the fifth-best start in school history after defeating their second consecutive ACC foe in Wake Forest, 83-80, on Wednesday night at Memorial Gym. Senior Shan Foster led the way for Vanderbilt with 26 points, tying a season high, and freshman A.J. Ogilvy netted 23 points in the win over the Demon Deacons. The deciding statistic for VU was free throw shooting on Wednesday night – the Commodores made 23 of their 27 shots from the charity stripe, an 85.2% clip.

Vanderbilt’s win over Wake Forest was spurred by a 6-0 run with 1:40 to play in the game when the Commodores trailed, 78-76. Ogilvy scored all six points for the Commodores during the run, including a hook shot with 33.7 seconds left to put the `Dores up 80-78 and a pair of clutch free throws with 16.1 seconds remaining to stretch the lead to 82-78.

With the performance against Wake Forest, Foster moved into 12th place on the VU all-time scoring list, passing Scott Draud, and now has 1,483 points. Foster, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, also moved into fourth place on the career three-point field goals attempted list. The Kenner, La., native has taken 648 threes in his Vanderbilt career.

Ogilvy tallied his fourth 20-plus point scoring effort on the season with 23 points, which tied a career-high. The Australian made 9-of-10 free throws for the Commodores, including four in the last 90 seconds of the game. Ogilvy also pitched in five rebounds and tied a career high with two blocks.

Vanderbilt and Lipscomb will meet for the 25th time Saturday night, with the Commodores owning a 20-4 advantage over the Bisons. VU owns a 3-0 all-time record against Lipscomb in Memorial Gym, and the two teams last met there in the 2006-07 season, a match up VU won, 59-50. The two teams have met only three times in the last 55 years (12/8/52; 1/24/55; 12/7/06), with all of the games occurring in Memorial Gym.

Lipscomb enters the game with a 4-5 record, but the Bisons have won three consecutive games as they make the 10-minute trip to Memorial Gym. Scott Sanderson is in his 9th season with Lipscomb (135-114), and 11th overall as a head coach (219-139). Vanderbilt owns a 42-10 record all-time record against the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Vanderbilt also takes on Nashville-area university Tennessee State on December 22 in an 8 p.m. contest.

Seven out of the next eight games for Vanderbilt will be in the friendly confines of Memorial Gymnasium, with the only road game coming on December 12 at Big East member DePaul. Other than the match up with the Blue Demons, Vanderbilt does not hit the road again until SEC play, when the Commodores travel to Kentucky on January 12.

Tip off with the Bisons will be at 8 p.m. at Memorial Gym. A few season tickets still remain for as low as $75.
