NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Shan Foster scored 29 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds leading Vanderbilt to an early lead and a 104-62 win over East Tennessee State on Tuesday night.
Vanderbilt (3-3) jumped out to a 47-23 lead at the half thanks to 20 points from Foster on 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range.
The Bucs’ Kenyona Swader cut the lead twice to 14-8 and 16-10, but that was the closest the game got.
Foster hit three more 3-pointers for a 37-15 lead and the Commodores stretched it to as much as 48 points in the second half.
It was the first time the Commodores scored more than 100 points since November 23, 2001, and the largest margin of victory and most points scored during the eight-year Kevin Stallings era at Vanderbilt.
Ross Neltner added 15 points and Derrick Byars added 14 for Vanderbilt. Blake Mishler had 12 points to lead ETSU (5-5), followed by Mike Smith with 10 points and 9 from Swader.
VU prepares for local foe Lipscomb Thursday at Memorial Gymnasium. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
