Matthew Moyer transfers to Vanderbilt

May 4, 2018

Matthew Moyer, who spent the last two seasons with the Syracuse basketball program, will join the Commodores this summer and be eligible to compete for Vanderbilt in the 2019-20 campaign after sitting out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

“The addition of Matt Moyer to our program is very exciting,” said Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew. “We believe he is a very talented wing player who fits our style of play well. Matt will enhance our program in many ways outside of basketball. He is a tremendous young man and excels in the classroom.”

Moyer played one season at Syracuse in 2017-18 after redshirting in 2016-17 due to injury. Moyer played in 35 games last season and made 20 starts, averaging 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He registered a career-high 18 points against UConn and grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds against Virginia Tech.

“I am really excited to get to campus and start learning from Coach Drew and help start a winning culture at Vanderbilt,” said Moyer. “With the current roster and incoming class, the opportunity to do something special is right at our doorstep.”
