NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf hosts its annual Mason Rudolph Championship beginning Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin. The three-day, 54-hole event has been a staple of the Commodores’ fall schedule since it began in 2001. Vanderbilt has won the tournament four times, most recently in 2023.
“Hosting the Mason Rudolph Championship is one of the great honors that come with coaching golf at Vanderbilt,” said head coach Greg Allen. “Mason was one of the greats in the game, and we’re proud our home tournament is named after him.”
This year’s field features 16 schools: Arizona State, Baylor, Clemson, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Lipscomb, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Richmond, UT-Chattanooga, Western Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Among them, the only past victors are Vandy (2023,2018,2014,2002) and Mississippi State (2022). Arizona State has finished runner-up three times.
“We love getting to showcase the Legends Club and the charming town of Franklin,” Allen said. “The staff at Legends do an amazing job of putting on a first-class tournament and they’re working double time after hosting the Simmons Bank Open last week. We very much appreciate everything they do for each day, but especially this week. They make our kids feel special every time they show up.”
Nine Commodores will compete this weekend. Seniors Tillie Claggett and Lynn Lim, both valuable members of the 2023 Mason Rudolph squad, will compete at Legends for the final time in their careers. Claggett was the individual runner-up at the 2023 event. Freshmen Elizabeth Rudisill and Kathryn Ha will make their Mason Rudolph debuts, while Ava Merrill rounds out the team lineup. Four Dores will compete as individuals: Macie Brown, Jayden Jevnick, Angelina Tolentino and Sara Im.
“We’ve had an incredible week of practice as the South Course was closed last week, so we feel very prepared,” said Allen. “Now, it’s a matter of just going out there and staying committed to the game plan and competing from start to finish.”
Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and UNC open the tournament with an 8:35 a.m. CT tee time on Friday. Live scoring for the event can be found on Scoreboard.
