This past weekend was another successful Mason Rudolph Championship – all in attendance saw good shots, long putts finding the bottom of the cup, and beautiful weather conditions.
Missing from the festivities, however, were Mason and Carol Rudolph, who passed away this past year. It was the first tournament without the couple, and it was hard not to think about the two, who always made their way around the Vanderbilt Legends Club in a golf cart together.
“I saw somebody driving a cart today, an older couple that was out there watching their granddaughter, and it kind of reminded me of Mason,” Vanderbilt women’s head coach Greg Allen told Golfweek over the weekend. “He lived in Tuscaloosa but he always came out for this event. It’s kind of sad not seeing him and Carol out here.”
Commodore Athletics made this video to honor Mason and Carol and it was shown at the Welcome Banquet before the tournament began. Voice of the Commodores Joe Fisher provided the narration for the video.
