Vanderbilt junior Kendall Martindale shot a one-under par 69 to lead the Commodores on the second day of play at the Dale McNamara Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla. Martindale is in a tie for seventh on the individual leader board, while as a team, Vanderbilt is in a tie for 10th place with a two-round score of 582 (287-285).
Martindale posted a 33 on the back nine of the Tulsa Country Club and trails four players who share the lead at 2-under par.
“Kendall was solid and really played well on the back,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen.
The Commodores fired a second-round total of 295, with counting scores coming from Martindale’s 69, Antonia Scherer’s 74, Irina Gabasa’s 75, and Morgan Ransom’s 77. Katie Rose Higgins tallied an 84 for Vanderbilt on Tuesday.
“After a really rough front nine, I’m proud of the way they hung in there and played well on the back,” said Allen. “It wasn’t one of our better ball-striking rounds and we left ourselves some difficult up and downs.”
Duke leads the team standings with a team score of 569 (283-286), one stroke better than second-place Oklahoma.
The third and final round of the Dale McNamara Fall Preview is set for Wednesday morning.
