Senior Kendall Martindale fired a three-under par, 213 (74-69-70), and finished runner-up at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in a field that featured 10 of the top 25 teams in the nation. The 12th-ranked Commodores finished ninth on the team leader board with a final total of 888 (293-296-299).
Martindale fired a final-round 70 at the UNC Finley Golf Course, and finished four strokes back of medalist Lauren Diaz-Yi of Virginia. The senior from Jefferson City, Tenn., had four birdies in her round Sunday.
Besides Martindale’s 70, Vanderbilt counted a pair of 75’s from Morgan Ransom and Cindy Ha, and a 79 from Antonia Scherer. Jennifer Hahn carded an 81 in her round on Sunday.
“I’m really happy for Kendall and how she performed this week,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “She looked good this week and was rolling it well. I’m a little disappointed with our finish today because I didn’t see the fight from everyone like I want to see in the final round.”
