DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA – It has been a year full of different winners and an ever-changing money list on the Symetra Tour, but today the dreams of playing on the LPGA Tour came to fruition for Marina Alex who finished No. 3 on the season-ending money list in the 2013 Volvik Race for the Card.

“I’m very relieved and excited,” said Alex of earning her 2014 LPGA Tour card. “It’s a very stressful year for everyone trying to get their card, you aren’t there yet and you’re trying to make it so it’s just every tournament, every shot counts but it’s really nice to be done and have achieved the goal you set out to achieve.”

The Vanderbilt University graduate first broke into the top-10 during week three after a tie for eighth at the Guardian Retirement Championship at Sara Bay but dropped outside the top-10 in week four after tie for 31st at the Symetra Classic. She returned inside the top-10 in week seven after a tie for second at the Four Winds Invitational.

One of the most consistent players on Tour this year, she recorded 10 top-20 and six top-10 finishes and spent a total of 10 weeks inside the top-10.

Currently in her rookie season on the LPGA Tour, Alex will improve her status for the 2014 season by her play on this year’s Symetra Tour. This year, she had the opportunity to see how game stacked up against the best players in the world as she competed in three events on the LPGA.

“Absolutely, I played and I missed all three cuts that I played in which is kind of upsetting, two of them were right on the number missing by one, so it’s just good to see where I stood with the game that I’m playing,” said Alex. “Obviously I still have some work to do in the offseason to get ready for next year but it was good to have a little indication of what to expect before getting there and I know what to work on now so I feel the transition will be a little smoother.”
