NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 6/6-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team will begin its March Madness run at Memorial Gymnasium, as the Commodores were one of the 16 schools selected by the NCAA Selection Committee on Saturday afternoon to host games in the tournament’s first two rounds.
For the first time, the NCAA Selection Committee announced the 16 host schools in alphabetical order ahead of Selection Sunday. Vanderbilt will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign. It is the third-straight NCAA Tournament at-large selection for the Dores. Overall, it is Vanderbilt’s 30th March Madness selection, which is the 13th-most in NCAA Division I history.
The Commodores find out their seed and draw for the 2026 NCAA Tournament on Sunday night, as ESPN’s Selection Sunday Special Show airs from 7-8 p.m. CT.
Ticket information for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be sent to National Commodore Club members and season ticket holders at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday.
Vanderbilt heads into the NCAA Tournament after having one of the best regular seasons in school history, as the Commodores went 27-4 overall and 13-3 in SEC games. The 27 wins by the Dores set the school record for the most regular-season victories, while the 13 SEC wins also set a program record for most league victories in a season. Vandy has spent 10-straight weeks ranked inside the top 10 in both the Associated Press top 25 and USA Today/WBCA coaches poll, and heads into March Madness ranked No. 6 in both polls.
The Anchored for Her Campaign
Vanderbilt launched the Anchored for Her campaign to honor its pioneering female student-athletes and cement the university’s place as the premier destination for women’s sports ahead of next year’s 50th anniversary of its varsity women’s teams. Bolstered by lead gifts from Vanderbilt Board of Trust members Nina Kohler and Kathleen Justice-Moore, JD’91, Anchored for Her’s initial $50 million goal will fuel investment in sustainable success for a new era of collegiate athletics through facility enhancements, endowed scholarships, coaching and staff positions, capital support and naming opportunities, team-specific Excellence Funds, the Women’s Athletics General Fund and the Competitive Excellence Fund.
