Lister visits the White House

Sept. 15, 2015

Jasmine Lister has now added yet another memorable event to her incredible summer.

Lister, the former Vanderbilt star who now serves as a graduate assistant on the UConn staff, visited the House White on Tuesday with the Huskies players and coaching staff as President Barack Obama welcomed the three-time defending national champions.

“I am so thankful to have had this opportunity,” said Lister when contacted by vucommodores.com. “The whole experience showed me how the hard work of an entire program can take you a long way.”

The trip to the White House capped an amazing three-month stretch for Lister, who made her WNBA debut on June 23 after being picked up by the Los Angeles Sparks. She played seven games with the Sparks, including logging 31 minutes on June 26.

Lister — who graduated from Vanderbilt in 2014 as the program’s all-time leader in minutes played — is preparing for her second season as a graduate assistant on UConn head coach Geno Auriemma’s staff. She joined the staff prior to the 2014-15 season and was on the bench during the team’s 38-1 campaign that ended with the Huskies’ 10th national title.

While at Vanderbilt, Lister was in the starting lineup for every game of her career (129) and logged 4,626 minutes of playing time, easily the most by any player to wear a Commodore uniform. She also ranks third on Vanderbilt’s all-time list in assists (591) and 10th in scoring (1,618).
