SUNSET, S.C. – Lynn Lim extended her lead over the field at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday with an even-par second round. Vanderbilt is in third place at 6-under par with 18 holes remaining.
“The golf course played a lot tougher today, mainly because of the conditions, but the par 3s were difficult for us,” said head coach Greg Allen. “We didn’t have as many birdie opportunities today. But overall, we hung in there and put ourselves in a good position for tomorrow.”
Lim’s 72 set the pace for the Commodores. Ava Merrill moved into eighth place individually after carding a 73 on Saturday. Angelina Tolentino notched a 74, while Sara Im had a 76. Elizabeth Rudisill shot a 79 to round out the Vanderbilt squad. Competing as an individual, Kathryn Ha went even par in the second round.
“I’m proud of how we handled ourselves despite the circumstances,” said Allen. “It’s not always easy to have a great attitude, play with gratitude and treat others well when things aren’t going your way, and our young ladies consistently do that.”
Vanderbilt is two strokes behind Arkansas and five behind Florida. The Commodores have an eight-stroke lead on both Tennessee and Virginia Tech. The Dores have tallied 34 birdies over the first two rounds, the most of any team.
Vanderbilt will tee off the final round on Sunday with Arkansas, Florida and Virginia Tech at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
