Samantha Gainor is a freshman economics major from Chesterfield, Mich., about a half hour north of Detroit. Here she “pitches” some answers to help us get to know her.
Age I began to bowl: 4 years old
Who got me started with bowling: It started as a fun activity for me and my friend with our moms
When I was a kid I tried to be like: My papa
Favorite musical performer: Luke Bryan
Favorite movie: Finding Nemo and 21 Jump Street
Nobody can believe I watch this TV show: One Tree Hill
Favorite midnight snack: Ice Cream or chips
Favorite thing about myself: I laugh all the time
The best tasting food I can make: Cookies and mac and cheese
Favorite sport other than bowling: Baseball
Favorite athlete to watch in another sport: Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez (he is retired now)
Talent I’d most like to have: I wish I could sing
Favorite things to do away from bowling: I enjoy playing baseball, playing catch with a football, hanging out with friends and having bonfires
Favorite aspect of Nashville: Is being in a big city, but also getting the rural feeling
The person I’d love to trade places with for a day: A major league baseball player
Ultimate vacation destination: Anywhere with a beach or hiking
The person(s) I admire most: My mom and grandma
Career goal outside of bowling: Economics degree

Three things on my bucket list are: Going to all 30 MLB fields, visit Australia and go white water rafting
One thing my hometown is famous for: Automobiles, (The Motor City)
My advice to young people is: Work hard and follow your dreams
Why did you choose Vanderbilt: I choose Vanderbilt because it is a prestigious university with an amazing bowling program. I also love how beautiful the campus is.
