BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball senior Bella LaChance was named to the 2023-24 SEC Community Service Team, as announced by the league Thursday.
It is the second time that LaChance has been named to the SEC Community Service Team, as she was also selected during the 2021-22 season.
LaChance has spent a lot of time giving back to the community by going to elementary schools and participating in Fun Chapel Fridays. She has spent her time working in classrooms, reading, and tutoring students, along with playing basketball with them. She has spent 12 hours volunteering at local Nashville schools over the last five months.
She also has a fellowship with a nonprofit organization called Team Impact, which matches up kids with life-threatening or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams. She has spearheaded the opportunities to bring Team Impact to Vanderbilt’s campus and has worked with neighboring campuses to make it a more well-known nonprofit organization amongst the Nashville community.
LaChance is a communication studies major and is set to graduate from Vanderbilt this spring. She has been on the Dean’s List six times, while she is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team closes out the road portion of its 2023-24 schedule tonight, as the Commodores are set to take on Missouri. Tipoff from Mizzou Arena is set for 7 p.m. and will stream live on SEC Network+.
