KYLE MITTENDORF NAMED VANDERBILT MEN’S SOCCER ASSISTANT COACH

Vanderbilt men’s soccer head coach Tim McClements announced the hiring of Kyle Mittendorf as an assistant coach effective today. Mittendorf joins McClements and goalkeeper coach Eric Vaughter to complete the staff.

“I am really excited to be here,” Mittendorf said. “I know what Coach (McClements) can do and I look forward to helping this team become a nationally competitive team.”

Mittendorf joins the Commodores after spending one season as assistant coach at Eastern Illlinois. While there, he worked with the defenders and goalkeepers and assisted with recruiting while coordinating the travel needs for the team. Prior to that, he was a volunteer assistant at SMU where the Ponies went 21-1, won the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, was ranked #1 throughout most of the season, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal game.

As a two-year starter at Eastern Illinois, he helped his team advance to the MVC Tournament and earned all-conference honors his senior season.

He spent his first two seasons at Johnson County Community College where earned team MVP honors before transferring to Eastern Illinois to play for then-head coach and now Vanderbilt head coach Tim McClements.

“Kyle will be a great addition to our staff,” McClements said. “He has gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at SMU and Eastern Illinois. He has a great understanding of our conference (Missouri Valley
Conference) and his work ethic and coaching ability will have a great impact on our program.”

Mittendorf replaces Charles Morrow who was named head coach at Belmont Abbey.
