Former Commodore Luke Kornet wins NBA Championship with Celtics

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Former Vanderbilt Commodore Luke Kornet captured his first NBA title as the Boston Celtics routed the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 to win the 2024 NBA Finals.

Kornet is the fourth Commodore to win an NBA crown, joining Will Perdue, Festus Ezeli and Damian Jones. Commodore alumni have now won a combined eight NBA championships.

In his seventh year in the league, Kornet played in 63 games for the Celtics this season. He averaged 5.3 points, a career-best 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game to help Boston to its record 18th championship banner.

A 2017 graduate, Kornet is a member of Vanderbilt’s 1,000-point club and the all-time leader in blocks with 210. Kornet was the 2017 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a first team All-SEC selection.
