John Krause Named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week
First Commodore since 1999 to Receive Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Saint Louis, Mo. — Vanderbilt junior John Krause was named the Missouri Valley Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week today.  It is a first-time honor for Krause and the first for a Commodore offensive player in five years.  Travis Weeks received the honor in 1999 for the Commodores.

Krause led the Commodores to an undefeated week and second place finish in the Vanderbilt University PUMA Classic.
He totaled three goals, including a game-winner vs. Memphis in double overtime (1-0).  He scored two goals vs. Northwestern, including the first score of the game and another in regulation (74:09) that tied the game at 3-3.

After a scoreless game through regulation vs. Memphis, Krause took a feed from Josh Medcalf and Patrick Ryan for the game winner from 18-yards out at the 101:30 mark.  He gave Vanderbilt a 1-0 lead vs. Northwestern and then tied the game at the 74:09 mark (3-3) to lead Vanderbilt to a 1-0-1 record for the week.

He was named to the All-Tournament team totaling 11 shots, including eight on goal.

He totals a team-leading 13 points and six goals in six games.  Those marks exceed last season’s team-leading scorer with nine points and four goals in 18 games.

Krause, a 6-0 junior midfielder/forward from Holliston, Mass., is a transfer from Boston College.
