NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s basketball returns home to Memorial Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip against Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday night.

The contest will stream on SEC Network+ while fans can also tune in on 102.5 The Game for Kevin Ingram and Tim Thompson’s call of the action.

HISTORIC (HOT) START

  • For the first time in program history, Vanderbilt opened the season with back-to-back 100-point games.
  • Vanderbilt’s pair of 105-point performances have the Commodores ranked 11th in the country in scoring.
  • The Dores are one of four teams in the country to have multiple 100-point games against DI opponents to open the season. Vandy is the only one of those four to face a high-major opponent.
  • The opening onslaught marks the first consecutive 100-point games since 1980 for Vanderbilt. The Dores put 111 on North Alabama and Memphis that December.
  • The Commodores have never eclipsed the 100-point barrier in three-straight contests.

DOWNTOWN DOMINANCE

  • Vanderbilt leads the SEC and ranks 14th nationally in three-point shooting percentage at 46.3%.
  • The Dores also lead the SEC and are tied for second in the country with 15.5 made threes per game.
  • Tyler Nickel’s five made threes per contest rank eighth nationally and also lead the SEC. Nickel is shooting 58.8% from three on the season, good for third in the SEC.
  • Tyler Tanner ranks sixth in the SEC with 3.5 made triples per game to open the season.
  • Five Dores (Nickel, Tanner, Harris, Miles, Okereke) have knocked down multiple threes through two games. The group is shooting 52.7% from three (29-of-55).

ANALYTICS ASSESSMENT

  • Vanderbilt is a favorite among the numerous computer rankings through opening week.
  • KenPom has the Dores ranked 15th nationally with the No. 5 offense.
  • EvanMiya has Vandy slotted 19th with the seventh-best offensive rating.
  • Bart Torvik has the Commodores 15th overall and tabs the offense as the No. 2 attack in the nation.
  • The Dores are the highest rated SEC offense in all three analytic systems.

BALL CONTROL

  • Vanderbilt ranks fifth nationally in both assist-to-turnover ratio and fewest turnovers per game.
  • The Dores average 3.5 assists per turnover through two games, a mark which leads the SEC.
  • Vanderbilt has committed just six turnovers in each game, also leading the SEC.
  • Against UCF, the Dores did not commit a single live-ball turnover. It marked the first time since 2016 a Commodore opponent did not record a steal.
  • Duke Miles ranks third nationally with a 12.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Miles leads the SEC while teammate Frankie Collins ranks sixth in the league at 5.5 ast/to.
  • Through two games, Vanderbilt has 42 assists on 76 made baskets. The mark ranks top 50 in the country.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Vanderbilt and Eastern Kentucky meet for the first time in over 40 years on Wednesday night.
  • The Dores captured all three previous meetings, coming in consecutive seasons from 1982-84.
