Hitchcock named Director of Sports Nutrition

Vanderbilt Athletics has announced the hiring of Blair Hitchcock as the Commodores’ new Director of Sports Nutrition.

Hitchcock is Vanderbilt’s first full-time registered dietitian and is in charge of all dietary and nutritional needs for Commodore athletic programs.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity at Vanderbilt,” Hitchcock said. “Having a nutritional piece to your athletic department is extremely important in college athletics, and I look forward to building our program from the ground-up here in Nashville.”

Hitchcock, a Powell, Tenn. native, arrives at Vanderbilt following three years at Texas A&M, where she served as assistant director of performance nutrition for the Aggies. While in College Station, Hitchcock oversaw all performance nutrition needs for the Aggies’ men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, women’s volleyball and equestrian programs.

Prior to her tenure at Texas A&M, Hitchcock served as a graduate assistant sports dietitian at Florida State from 2013-2015, assisting with the football program during the Seminoles’ run to the BCS Championship during the 2013 season. Hitchcock worked as a nutrition intern with the St. Vincent’s Sports Performance Institute in Indianapolis in 2013 and earned experience as a sports nutrition intern at Auburn (2012-13) and Tennessee (2011-12), as well.

Hitchcock graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2012 with bachelor degrees in health and human sciences and sports management. Hitchcock later earned a masters in nutrition coursework from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 2013 and a masters in sports nutrition from Florida State University in 2015.
