Las Vegas — Brittni Hamilton was ninth and Vanderbilt teammate Josie Earnest 10th after the first day of the USA Team Trials here Tuesday. A third Commodore, Amanda Halter, was 35th in the elite field of top professional and amateur bowlers.
Hamilton was actually in fourth place at one point of the day before a difficult game pushed her lower. She averaged 201.22 on the day, 190 pins behind leader Liz Johnson.
Earnest was right behind averaging a strong 201 while Halter managed a 186.33 average on the demanding lane conditions.
