Hall of Fame Dinner on schedule

Jan. 21, 2016

Vanderbilt’s Hall of Fame Committee has been closely monitoring Friday’s weather forecast, realizing that inclement weather could pose a transportation problem for some people planning to attend the Hall of Fame Dinner.

While that forecast that includes the potential for some snow in parts of Middle Tennessee, Friday evening’s events will go on as planned.

“Some have asked if we plan to postpone or cancel this event,” said department spokesman Rod Williamson. “Unfortunately there are not any reasonable alternatives. We have attendees coming from all over the United States – many who are already here. They can’t change their plans and there are other complicating factors that make sticking with the existing plan the best choice.”

Williamson added that while the athletic department is hopeful everyone in the sold-out ballroom can be present for the special evening, people are urged to use caution if weather and road conditions are unfavorable.

Vanderbilt Athletics will induct nine people into its Hall of Fame Friday with a reception starting at 6 p.m. and dinner/program beginning at 7 o’clock.

The inductees are Marina Alex (golf), Cathy Bender (basketball), Jay Cutler (football), Jeff Fosnes (basketball), Charley Horton (football), David Price (baseball), Larry Schmittou (baseball), Aleke Tsoubanos (tennis) and Stella Vaughn (lifetime achievement).
