BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Junior Josie Hahn (Clinton, Tenn.) qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships by winning the pentathlon at the Indiana Invitational Friday.

Hahn, who enjoyed an outstanding heptathlon campaign last year, won the pentathlon with a 3,840-point total. She finished no worse than fourth in any of the five disciplines of the pentathlon. Hahn’s best marks came in the high jump (5’8″), long jump (17’8″) and 800 meters (2:24.49).

The Commodores’ distance medley squad of Ashleigh Wetzel (Fr., Lewisburg, Pa.), Garnetta Holloway (So., Cleveland, Tenn.), Alisa Cotter (So., Hanover, Mass.) and Erika Schneble (So., Hendersonville, N.C.) posted the team’s other event win with a 12:07.94 effort.

A number of Commodores used the meet to establish individual personal bests as the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships loom just weeks away.

After running the 800 meters during two earlier indoor competitions, a drop in distance to the 600 meters proved beneficial for sophomore Latisha Bryant (Atlanta, Ga.). She finished second in a personal best 1:33.85, fourth fastest ever at the distance by a Commodore. Commodore senior Vanessa Lagios (Indiatlantic, Fla.) followed closely behind in fourth, with a personal best of 1:35.51.

In addition to contributing in the distance medley victory, Schneble posted a personal best in the invitational mile, finishing third in 5:02.73. Her time is the ninth best all-time at Vanderbilt, and gives Schneble a Top Ten effort in distances ranging from the mile to 5,000 meters.

Sophomore Amanda Mullins-Hall (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.70) and seventh in the 200 meters (26.68). In the 200 preliminaries, Mullins-Hall ran 25.49, the fifth fastest Commodore effort at the distance.

In other action, Wetzel finished third in the 800 meters (2:15.33), junior Paige Roberts (Atascadero, Calif.) finished fourth in the pole vault with a yearly best of 11’1.75″, and fellow junior Nadiyah Humber posted a career best finishing fourth in the 3,000 meters with a 10:26.37 effort.
