Getting to know Wade Baldwin IV

Freshman Wade Baldwin IV arrived on campus in June after a stellar senior season in which he led; his St. Joseph’s team to a 30-2 overall record and the Non-Public A New Jersey State Championship after averaging 15 points, 7.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 steals. He also compiled a record of 57-7 in his junior and senior seasons, and departed St. Joseph’s with 1,727 career points and 104 three-point baskets.

Baldwin recently sat down with vucommodores.com to answer some questions about himself and some of the things he likes to do off of the court.

Favorite NBA team: Miami Heat.
The one NBA player you wished was your teammate: Russell Westbrook.
Age I picked up a basketball: 6.
I picked my jersey number because: I’m the fourth Wade of my family.
When I was a kid I tried to be like: Allen Iverson.
A few words that describe the way I play basketball: Athleticism, Strength, and Unselfish.
What I need to improve on to be a better player: Mentally get stronger and understand the game.
The thing that impresses me most about Coach Stallings: His positive attitude.
Favorite part about playing at Memorial Gym: Haven’t played there yet.
Favorite sport other than basketball: Football.
Favorite musical performer: Meek Mill.
Favorite movie: Bad Boys II.
Nobody can believe I watch this TV show: Awkward.
Favorite Internet Site: Youtube.com.
Favorite midnight snack: Sunflower seeds.
Favorite thing about myself: My competitive nature.
Worst habit: Talking out of turn.
Dream Date: Jessica Alba.
My basketball “dream team” would be: Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Tim Duncan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
The best tasting food I can make: Peanut Butter and Jelly.
My bucket list includes: Skydiving.
Favorite athlete to watch in another sport: Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Talent I’d most like to have: Boxing.
Favorite thing to do away from basketball: Play video games.
I’m as good as anyone at: 2K Basketball games.
One thing my hometown is famous for: Nothing.
My best non-athletic talent: Being a speaker.
Favorite aspect of Nashville: The different variety of things.
Total number of songs on my IPOD or MP3 player: 1170.
Superstitions: None.
The person I’d love to trade places with for a day: Floyd Mayweather.
What I would do if I won the lottery: Save all of it until I got out of college.
Ultimate vacation destination: Fiji.
The person I admire most: Floyd Mayweather.
Career goal (outside of basketball): Athletic Director.
The best advice I’ve received: “Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t live between your own two ears.”
The most famous person(s) I’ve met: Chris Bosh.
Biggest influence in my life: Watching those who made it.
Most important thing I’ve learned since coming to Vanderbilt: Managing Time.
My advice to young people is: Keep your head up and keep working because things can always get better.
I chose to attend Vanderbilt over these schools: UConn, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Minnesota.
