Get to Know ... Bree Horrocks

Bree Horrocks come to West End as a graduate transfer from Purdue, brining yet another Vanderbilt-Purdue connection. The 6-5 redshirt junior brings some much needed height in the middle for the Commodores. With the start of the season just around the corner, Horrocks sat down with vucommodores.com to talk about some of her favorite things.

The one WNBA player you wished was your teammate: Elena Delle Donne
Age I picked up a basketball: 7
When I was a kid I tried to be like: My dad and my mom at the same time
Three words that describe the way I play basketball: Finesse, quick shot, intense passion
What I need to improve on to be a better player: My rebounding
The thing that impresses me most about Coach White: She lets the past be the past. She doesn’t harp on our mistakes and lets each day be a new day with new potential.
Favorite sport other than basketball: Volleyball and Boxing
Favorite movie: Any superhero movie
Favorite midnight snack: Chips and Queso
Favorite thing about myself: My authenticity
The best tasting food I can make: Macaroni and Cheese
Favorite thing to do away from basketball: I like to box or walk around new places
If I won the lottery, I would: Complete my mom’s home renovations and then buy a Mercedes G-Class for myself and Porsche Panamera Turbo for my dad
Ultimate vacation destination: France
The most famous person(s) I’ve met: Britney Griner
Most important thing I’ve learned since coming to Vanderbilt: There are so many different people from all walks of life. It is important we speak up for what we believe in and keep our minds open to an ever changing world.
My advice to young people is: Be yourself. Live your authentic life. Don’t be fearful of loving yourself enough to let the world see it.
Have you had any relatives play college sports? My dad played basketball at North Texas. Mom ran track and cross country at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
