Vanderbilt Basketball Postgame Notes

Team Record and Series Notes:

-Vanderbilt is now 14-3 all-time in its series against Chattanooga.
-This was head coach Bryce Drew’s first game against Chattanooga.
-Vanderbilt is nearing in on 1,000 games played at Memorial Gym. Today’s contest against Chattanooga was the 993rd game played at Memorial Gym.


Team Notes:

-Vanderbilt made a new season-high 26 free throws on just 29 attempts (90%).

-Vanderbilt outscored Chattanooga 23-12 in the final 9:38 of the game.

-21 of Vanderbilt’s final 23 points came off of 3-pointers and free throws (Four 3-pointers and nine free throws).

-The Commodores won the turnover margin 11-14.

-This was Vanderbilt’s fourth non-conference opponent of the season from the state of Tennessee. Vanderbilt has also played Belmont, Tennessee State, and Middle Tennessee.

-Neither team led by more than nine points the entire game. The largest lead in the game was when Chattanooga led by a score of 62-53 with 9:38 remaining.

Player Notes:

-Luke Kornet and Matthew Fisher-Davis led all scorers with 18 points apiece.

-Kornet set a new season-high mark for 3-point field goals made in a game with three. Two of his 3-pointers gave the Commodores a lead in the final two minutes, including the game-winner with 2.9 seconds remaining.

-Matthew Fisher-Davis finished with a new career-high for free throws made with nine. Fisher-Davis was a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.

-Fisher-Davis also posted a new season-best rebounding total with seven boards.

-Joe Toye scored 10 points on 3-5 shooting and tied his career-high scoring mark.

-Jeff Roberson finished the game with 11 points; it marked the seventh straight game that Roberson had scored in double figures.
