Former Commodore Will Perdue Named Orlando Magic Radio Analyst 10/20/2005 Former Vanderbilt men’s basketball All-American Will Perdue has been named a radio analyst for the Orlando Magic, the National Basketball Association franchise announced earlier this month. Perdue will split color analyst duties for the Magic Radio Network with Richie Adubato, a former assistant and head coach in the NBA and current head coach of the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Perdue will serve as color analyst for all Orlando road games while Audubato will provide color analysis for all Magic home games. Dennis Neumann is the network’s play-by-play announcer. One of five Vanderbilt players in school history to earn All-America recognition, Perdue earned the award in 1988 as a powerful center in the Southeastern Conference. A native of Melbourne, Fla., Perdue averaged a double-double with 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds in his final campaign while also being selected the league’s player of the year. A three-time All-SEC performer, Perdue remains Vanderbilt’s all-time leading shot blocker (157), ranks seventh in career rebounds (708) and 20th in all-time scoring (1,281 points). Vanderbilt’s last first-round NBA Draft pick, Perdue was chosen 11th overall by Chicago in 1988. Perdue appeared in 792 regular season games during his NBA career with Chicago, San Antonio and Portland, averaging 4.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 15.6 minutes. He also played in 108 career playoff games and helped his teams capture four NBA World Championships (1991, 1992, 1993 with Chicago; 1999 with San Antonio). Currently residing in Louisville, Ky., Perdue also serves as an NBA analyst for ESPN Radio. Portions of this release provided by the Orlando Magic Media Relations office. |
