Vanderbilt senior Christina Foggie is adding more accomplishments to her already impressive résumé.
Foggie, who is in contention to win the SEC scoring title for the second time in her career, is primed to become the program’s all-time leader in 3-pointers.
She enters Thursday’s game against Auburn (6 p.m. at Memorial Gym) with 254 career 3-pointers, which puts her just two shy of tying the all-time record set by Merideth Marsh (who made 256 during her career from 2007-10).
Also, on Tuesday, Foggie was one of 30 players named to Naismith Award midseason watch list. (See complete list below).
Foggie was one of the 50 players named to the Naismith preseason list, and then remained on the list when it was trimmed from 50 to 30.
She is also on the watch list for two other honors — the Dawn Staley award and the Wade Trophy. (Teammate Jasmine Lister is also on the Staley watch list).
Foggie, who made five 3-pointers and scored 22 points in Monday’s loss to Tennessee, is averaging 18.9 points per game. She has scored 1,589 points in her career and ranks 11th on Vanderbilt’s all-time scoring list. Foggie needs just five more points to surpass former Vanderbilt standout Heidi Gillingham for 10th place.
