“I thought Vanderbilt played really well and did a nice job defending us. We didn’t do a great job getting our shots in the first half — 50 percent from the three-point line kept us around. Vanderbilt was more balanced offensively. Corey Brewer stepped up and his threes definitely helped us win. I’m happy for Corey. He’s coming off that ankle injury and it’s good to see him play well.”
On Corey Brewer: “He was very focused. Over the last week, he’s struggled. He’s such a competitor and wants to help. The most valuable lesson he’ll learn from this game is that because he made his shots, it affected the rest of his game. He became involved defensively and had eight rebounds.”
On Vanderbilt’s Defense: “I felt like in the game in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Gainesville, Vanderbilt tried to switch a lot on defense and got caught with mismatches. Tonight, they didn’t do as much switching and had our big guys on theirs. They did a good job of keeping us out of the lane and forcing things laterally. When you have our record, you tend to see things that you don’t see on tape. I don’t think Vanderbilt gave us a different look defensively. They played Kentucky this way and did a nice job as well.” |
